I'll be there for you

This time I'm going to analize Josephine Lee's speech. I think I should start with the reasons why I have chosen these video. First of all, this perfomance was really expressive, and emotional colouring is very important for me. Another reason is that the topic about friendship is of current interest in my life because now I don't communicate with my school friends as much as I want. And finally the phrase "I'll be there" is a line from the sound-track of one of my favourite TV-show Friends.

The evaluation process will be carried out according to the Public Speaking Evaluation Chart.

I. Speech Content
The speech was well organized. There were clear division into the introduction, the body and the conclusion. Josephine started her speech with making a startling statement that was also the name of her speech. Also she gave the topic of her speech. In the body she proved that her thesis was right but she didn't use parenthetical word like "firstle, secondly...". The body was like a story. And the conclusion was good, it contained all the necessary elements. Every part of the speech was illustrated with bright examples and stories. And the whole speech was cohered with the help of the main characters: Jenna and Josephine. As I said it seemed to be more like a story that a public speech.

II. Speech Delivery
Josephine used her voice with great skill. She always changes intonation, volume, tempo to add more emotions to her speech. The same things I can say about the physical presentation. She gesticulated a lot and moved on the scene. Especially when she performed the coversations with Jenna. It was like a theatre of one actress.

III.General effectiveness
Amount of time used: 7:55
The speech was neither too short, nor too long. It was like any other speech.
And of course this speech was creative. Maybe, the topic was ordinary, but the performance of this topic was unique.

As you see, I'm really fond of this speech. And I would give the highest point for it and I will give.

    Hi Arina,
    I absolutely like the points you mentioned. Josephine did great job delivering her speech and you pointed out its main pros and cons. At some point it really was a theatre of one actress.
    As you said, the topic is not super new, but the performance is unique indeed.
    I'm sure this speech and its analysis will help you at giving your own talks in the future.

Performance situation is usually a stressful one. But we can always reduce the level of stress by following some tip which help in overcoming physical simptoms. Challenge №2. Telephone an organization

Nowadays we can do many things with the help of the Internet avoiding personal communication with people. We ca order food, buy clothes, book tickets. But sometimes we have to talk to a worker of an organization to ask for some information. And my challenge of this week was connected with this activity.  On Tuesday I called to a hospital to make an appointment for my granny. That hospital was private. I couldn't get throgh for a long time. And then they recalled me. I made an appointment. Maybe, this action was not quite similar with one I nad planned to do but the main idea is the same, I think.  The main fear was that the stuff of the organization might be impolite with me or I might get lost. This fear may be the result of the old tradition. We get used that the ladies engaged in services are not always polite with clients. But this hospital turned out to be very good from this point of view that made me glad.

I have so many situations when I sit down to write a speech but I don't have any idea how to start, what examples to bring and how to make it creative and interesting to listen. Fortunately, there are some methods to overcome the crisis. In this post I will try them starting with the warm-up. Warm-ups One letter The main idea of this warm-up is to choose a letter and then name at least 10 words staring with this letter.
