Summer Vacation Speech

Today we made a speech about our summer. We had only a minute and a half to tell three facts about that time and 15 minutes to prepare. It was quite a difficult thing and here are the evaluation of my speech.



To tell the truth, it was much easier for me to find 3 things to improve than 3 things to praise. I will start with the things that I like.

3 things I like in my speech

1) My grammar
2) The way I improvised. I am usually at a loss in a situation of improvisation.
3) The photos in the presentation

3 things I want to improve

1) My gesticulation
2) Pronunciation and fluency
3) Design of the presentation

The last challenge

The most difficult challenge was left for the end of the course. The main idea of this challenge is to tell a story to a new group of people. I like telling stories but I like doing it in front of the people I know. That's why this challenge is difficult for me. I don't know what expect from a new audience. But challenge was accepted. Last Friday I went to the performance Dust given by the theatre Old House. I went there with my friend and some her friends who were new for me. So it was a wonderful opportunity to fulfill the challenge. I'm usually too shy to talk in a new company but that time I decided to get myself together. And we started to talk about our study and some difficulties we face. At that point of conversation I told them a story about our science course at university that is thought to be one of the most difficult. The story was funny and everyone laughed. Confedence is crucial in any undertaking

Good morning everybody! I’m so glad to see you. This summer I experienced the strongest emotions in my life. It happened in the camp when I was a counselor.   Unfortunately, these emotions were not as good as they supposed to be. Every day I made a lot of mistakes that disappointed me, so day by day I became less and less self-confident. It was a snow ball effect. And the result of this effect was that I thought that I just can’t do anything in a proper way. Now I understand what the problem was, I was not confident from the very beginning. Now I understand that confidence is really important in any work or business you start. The first reason why I think so is the meaning of confidence for me. In my opinion, confidence comes from preparation, and sometimes they are equal. Let’s imagine a situation. Our group gathers together and decides to go to the mountains. But we can’t go there without some preparations. We need to find the best place to go, choose the date...

10 weeks to challenge myself

Stage fright... It sounds scaring, doesn't it? Many people, including me, have this fear. We are afraid of what people around us think of us, we are afraid of being fools. We are so scared that sometimes, though well prepared, we fail our performances just because of anxiety. Personally, I had many speeches that could be quite good if I hadn't been so nervous.  But being confident may be trained. And some social challenges will help it. So further you can see 10 challenges to me to feel more comfortable in communication with the unfamiliar people. I will do task a week and describe the results in this blog.
