Confedence is crucial in any undertaking

Good morning everybody! I’m so glad to see you.

This summer I experienced the strongest emotions in my life. It happened in the camp when I was a counselor.  Unfortunately, these emotions were not as good as they supposed to be. Every day I made a lot of mistakes that disappointed me, so day by day I became less and less self-confident. It was a snow ball effect. And the result of this effect was that I thought that I just can’t do anything in a proper way. Now I understand what the problem was, I was not confident from the very beginning. Now I understand that confidence is really important in any work or business you start.

The first reason why I think so is the meaning of confidence for me. In my opinion, confidence comes from preparation, and sometimes they are equal. Let’s imagine a situation. Our group gathers together and decides to go to the mountains. But we can’t go there without some preparations. We need to find the best place to go, choose the date, and buy necessary equipment and food to survive. Without all these things we can die. So if you’re prepared, you’re confident in what you do.

Secondly, you always should believe in yourself and in your dream to reach good results. Do you know that you would never read any book about Harry Potter, if J.K.Rowling hadn’t believed in her books? She couldn’t find a publishing house because no one was interested in the story of "a boy who survived". But she didn’t give up and now almost every person in the world knows about Harry Potter.

Another thing to mention about confidence is that it’s always pleasant to watch someone who is self-confident. It’s especially connected with public performances. The speakers who don’t tremble, don’t become embarrassed enjoy popularity more often than those who shows different signs of anxiety. This works even in love matters. People who are self-confident attract more attention.

And the last thought I want to share with you. This thought came to me when I watched my cat. She wanted to jump from a chair but failed to land. It was a pitiful site. It didn’t matter for her; she just stood up very quickly and went away with firm steps. So the idea is don’t lose confidence when you make a mistake. Just correct it and go on your way. I know that mistakes are really painful; they can make you think that you are not worth anything. That’s not true until you understand what you were wrong at and change the situation.

So I wish I were able to move back in time to tell me in the past about all these things. If I had prepared better for working with children, believed in the happy end and hadn’t worry about every mistake, all in all, if I had been more self-confident, being a counselor would have been more pleasant activity for me. And now, I hope, you understand that confidence is really important in any undertaking.
