Public Speaking Course

"Fair words please the conversation," - says one proverb. My new challenge can prove it. This time I needed to make a compliment to an unknown person. So I came to the shop situated near my house yesterday. I decided to buy some food. And I said to the seller that she looked beautiful that day. She looked at me with a stange sight but I was smiling at her. And then she smiled me back. That was a little bit awlward but at the same time I was happy that I made another person smile. It's a good experience. I think we should tell more pleasant things to each other even if to unknown people.

We have only one week left and session is coming. So we should hurry up to finish our 10 challenges. Today is time for the 8th one. My task was to go to the expensive shop, try on one thing or scan an item for a while and then leave the shop without buying anything. Today I had some free time in the morning and I decided to go to the shop. I went to the shopping center where I visited Zeppelin. This shop is quite expensive for me and for other people too, I suppose as this shop is not as crowded as less expensive ones. So I entered the shop. And a shop assistant came to me immediatly to suggest his help. Of course, I refused as it was the condition of my challenge. I scanned the items and the prices were really high. For example, the trousers cost about 12000 rubles. I didn't try on anything because I was afraid to damage something. I can say that I felt uncomfortable. Public Speaking Course is coming to the end and it's high time to look at the results. The  questionnaire can hel us to do it.  I've got 70 points this time that means I made a progress. Now there are more positive than negative things in my style of communication. That's a good result, I suppose. But of course, there is still something that I should develop.

This time I will my speech colourful to highlight some structural and use of language things. The first script is about strucure. My friend Natasha invited me and my cousin Ann to go to the hockey match on Sunday. Natasha's boyfriend is a hockey player and it was a match between his team and a team from another city. We went to the stadium where the game took place. There were not as many people as there are on the big matches but anyway I could choose someone to talk to. I saw a young woman next to us. She cheered one of the players. I decided to ask her whom she supported. I was nervous but she seemed to be friendly. I asked and she said that there was his brother who played. He was in the same team as our friend. At the end of the game we were all happy that our team won. I congratulated a girl. I don't think that we will continue the communication but that was a good experience.

My new challenge was to reach a destination by asking people in the street about the route. Last week I went to meet my friends. We were to meet in one shopping centre. I didn't know our cuty very well so it was a good opportunity to complete the challenge. I usually use 2GIS to find a route to the destination. This time I desided to do it with the help of people around me. I came to the bus stop and asked one woman how I could reach Sibirsky Moll. She said that I can go by route taxi 42. So I did it. But as I went into the car I asked the driver what bus stop I needed. So I went out at that bus stop. There I had to ask for the help again because the shopping centre is situated far from the bus stop. And one young girl helped me. She pointed out the street to go. I thanked her and reached the place. The most difficult thing when you want to talk to a stranger is to choose the most friendly person.
